East Brentwood Presbyterian Church (EBPC) is a mid-sized PCUSA church on one of the most accessible corners in Brentwood, TN, with a three-star preschool, East Brentwood Children’s Academy (EBCA), for ages two through five. Founded in 1988 (preschool formed in 1999) EBPC has thrived during recent challenges, with increased participation through innovative programming, investing in software and equipment, building an online presence including a weekly podcast, and growing our commitment to mission and service as an integrated part of our ministries. 

The Coordinator of Youth Ministries will create and maintain dynamic Christian education learning programs for youth while engaging and building relationships with their families. Working with a team of volunteers, and in coordination with church staff, s/he will lead a ministry that provides understanding and connection to our faith foundations while encouraging spiritual growth and a commitment to external Mission work. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide childcare in the nursery for infants and toddlers on Sunday mornings or for other activities as these are scheduled and based on the caregiver's availability.

  • May serve as another adult in Children’s Sunday School or supervise free play of older children when there are no attendees in the nursery and the Supervisor so instructs.

  • While in the nursery ensures that the Nursery Guidelines are followed:

    • Greets parents and children at the door.  Helps with any separation problems.  Completes any required registration process.  Asks about special needs.

    • Ensures that children and their equipment have name tags, checks diapers hourly, and washes hands after each change and nose wipe.

    • Plays on the floor with the children to enable eye contact with them as often as feasible.

    • Removes children from situations in which they may be hurting others, helping them to learn to be gentle.

    • Communicates to parents about the child's activities and any issues.

    • Leaves the nursery in order at the end of each session

    • Adheres to the Church’s Child Abuse Prevention Policy

    • Reassures children, continually letting them know you are there to love and care for them. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

    • A High School Diploma or GED

    • Experience in childcare

    • Certified in First Aid and CPR

    • Skills for nurturing children and relating well to others, being an adult role model for young children, maintaining an attitude of teamwork and cooperation with staff and membership and promoting a ministry that nurtures the growth of the Christian spirit within each child.

COMPENSATION, CLASSIFICATION and SCHEDULE

  • The Childcare Provider will be a Part Time, Regular employee, classified as Non-exempt and paid on an hourly basis at a rate between $16 and $19 per hour.

  • The work pace averages 1.5-3.5 hours per week, with occasional additional hours on Sunday or for other special events

  • This position is scheduled for 52 weeks per year.
