*Call to Worship (Based on Psalm 98)

Come, sing a new song to God!
Remember all the times full of wonder
God has already saved us!

Dust off the piano; tune up the guitar;
try out the drums!
Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth!
Open the windows!

Listen to the choirs outdoors,
feathered and furred!
Let the hills sing together for joy!
For God is not done doing wonders!
God is coming to set everything right.
Sing a new song to God!

*Hymn #192 “Lord, the Light of Your Love Is Shining”

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession

O God, still creating,

we hear your promises of a new day of joy and peace,

and we are skeptical.

We expect things to go on the same as they always have,

from bad to worse.

The past will keep us guilty, the future will make us afraid,

and the present will burden us with too little time

and too much to do.

Forgive our lack of faith,

our quickness to believe that you do not hear us,

and our pessimism about tomorrow.

Do a new thing in our hearts,

and let us be glad and rejoice in your abundant care;

through Christ we pray.

Time for Silent Reflection

Response “Trisagion” Ortega

Holy God. Holy and mighty.

Holy Immortal One, Have mercy, have mercy on us.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Friends, believe the good news.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Passing of the Peace

As God through Jesus has recognized and forgiven each of us, let us now ourselves recognize and forgive each other by sharing God’s peace with one another. The Peace of Christ is with you!

And also with you.

*Gloria Patri #581

Time of Reflection

We Respond to God’s Love

Prayers of the People—Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offering (During this time, members are invited to

place their pledge commitments in the offering plate.)

*Doxology #606

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

praise God, all creatures here below;

praise God above, ye heavenly host;

praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*Litany of Dedication

Leader: The Creator of all life and love has given our earth bountiful blessings.

People: God created humanity to share in the wonder and joy of these blessings.

Leader: All thanks be to God, Giver and Receiver of all that is good.

People: We return to God portions of what God has given us: our time, the fruits of our labors, our commitment.

Leader: May the giving from the fullness of our lives be acceptable in God’s sight.

People: May the gifts we bring show that God’s rule is at hand—both now and to come.

Leader: We dedicate our offerings toward the ministry God has given us. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

Welcome to East Brentwood

To Our Members: East Brentwood gladly welcomes first-time and returning visitors. By introducing yourself and sharing a warm greeting, you express the hospitality of our congregation. Please share a smile and welcoming word to those around you.

To Our Guests: We offer education and fellowship opportunities in the mornings and evenings for children, youth and adults. Please see the Calendar of Events for dates and times. Interested in joining East Brentwood? Speak to Dave Ford or John Hilley.

Evolving from a rich musical history, EBPC strives for diversity of music in worship. On any given Sunday, worshippers may experience our choir sharing traditional or new hymns, handbells ringing, our praise band ensemble performing contemporary Christian songs, or guest vocalists or musicians sharing southern spirituals, Celtic, bluegrass, classical, shape note, jazz, Americana, soul, or other musical genres.

Our Mission

East Brentwood Presbyterian Church is a community church made up of a loving, welcoming family of believers in honest conversation with God. We seek to emulate the ministry of Jesus through compassionate service, with stimulating and relevant exploration of God’s Word, and by sharing that Word and God’s many blessings with our neighbors in Middle Tennessee and around the world.

A quick EBPC Mission and Service meeting will take place TODAY after the 10:00 service. We will work on final details for College Grove and discuss our next steps.

HELP EBPC HELP OTHERS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON! Collections have begun this week for the Thanksgiving Dinners AND regular contributions to the College Grove Food Pantry. Collection bins are in the Gathering Place for these items. We have a short collection time, as all offerings must be at the church by November 17 with all items delivered to College Grove on Nov. 18 and distributed on Nov. 19. Mary Ellen Hofstetter has lists for items needed for the 50 Thanksgiving Dinners as well as for regular contributions. A sign-up sheet for those who wish to contribute turkeys is also in the Gathering Place. Please help us make this a very special season for at least 50 families. If you wish to be part of the group that distributes the food on Nov. 19, please contact Martha Wolfe at 615-373-5979.

EBPC Name tags! In order to make room for the new hospitality/welcome station, we have relocated the name tag shelves to the Gathering Place. Please be sure to stop by before the service and pick yours up.

Volunteer your talents with our EBPC Worship Team! We are slowly filling our openings for our Sunday Worship Support Teams. At present we have the following needs:

· Communion Server (all EBPC members, including confirmed youth, are eligible): 12/4 (1)

· Nursery Assistant (Support Leanna Pound): 11/20, 12/4, 12/18

· Worship/Hospitality (Bulletins, Greeters, Offering): 11/27, 12/4

Please go to our Sign-up Genius link to select your role and date(s) that you are willing and able to serve. Please contact Worship Planning Team Moderator Liz Beatty if you have any questions. Thank you for your ongoing support of our EBPC community!

Other volunteer opportunities available include the Room In The Inn (11/8) and Hanging of the Greens food (11/20). Both will have signups in the narthex and you can signup for the Hanging of the Greens using the Signup Genius link above. To learn more about Room In The Inn, contact Ann Ketch at 615-440-6124.
