3rd Sunday in Lent
The congregation is asked to use the time of the pre-service
music as a period of silent prayer and preparation.
We Gather to Worship God
Welcome & Announcements
Passing of the Peace
The Peace of Christ is with you!
And also with you.
Lord, open our eyes that we might see opportunities to grow in spirit.
Lord, open our ears that we might hear your call into unchartered lands where we might serve.
Lord, open our minds that we might be willing to accept new truths and new ways.
Lord, open our hearts that we might learn to love with new purpose and self-confidence.
“Will You Come and Follow Me” Hymn #726, Vs. 4
Will you love the ‘you’ you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found to re-shape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?
*Hymn #411 “God Is Here Today”
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Lord, you know who we are.
You know everything we have done.
We thirst for things that will never satisfy us.
We commit ourselves to things that will never last
We worship things that will never bring salvation.
Still, you offer us the gift of living water.
Still, you offer us the gift of eternal life.
Forgive us, O Lord,
And give us this living water,
So that we may never thirst again. Amen.
Time for Silent Reflection

There is no Children's Worship today. Young children and their parent(s) are invited to sit at the back table in the "Children's Corner" to enjoy activities as they listen to today's worship service!
To Our Members and Guests: please sign our friendship pad.
For those of you with young children, please check out the shelf of children's Bibles located on the shelves in the Sanctuary. There are several different age-appropriate versions available for their use during the service. Please re-shelve them before you leave the building.

Welcome to East Brentwood
To Our Members: East Brentwood gladly welcomes first-time and returning visitors. By introducing yourself and sharing a warm greeting, you express the hospitality of our congregation. Please share a smile and welcoming word to those around you.
To Our Guests: We offer education and fellowship opportunities in the mornings and evenings for children, youth and adults. Please see the Calendar of Events for dates and times. Interested in joining East Brentwood? Speak to Aaron Renton or John Hilley.
Evolving from a rich musical history, EBPC strives for diversity of music in worship. On any given Sunday, worshippers may experience our choir sharing traditional or new hymns, handbells ringing, our praise band ensemble performing contemporary Christian songs, or guest vocalists or musicians sharing southern spirituals, Celtic, bluegrass, classical, shape note, jazz, Americana, soul, or other musical genres.
East Brentwood Presbyterian Church is a community church made up of a loving, welcoming family of believers in honest conversation with God. We seek to emulate the ministry of Jesus through compassionate service, with stimulating and relevant exploration of God’s Word, and by sharing that Word and God’s many blessings with our neighbors in Middle Tennessee and around the world.
Mark your calendar for our next "Nate & Friends" concert at EBPC on April 29 at 6:30 p.m. This time, Nate will be joined by Grammy-nominated fiddler Matt Combs, who is a former member of the Grand Ole Opry, to perform a concert of songs, film scores, fiddle tunes, Bach, and a 'sneak peek' of "Appalachian Rhapsody," a new composition for fiddle, piano and full orchestra written in collaboration between Matt and Nate.
Congregational Care: We want to assist with needs that may arise, either anticipated or unexpected, among the people in our church family. Examples of supports include: assistance with transportation and home delivered meals following medical procedures, transportation to church for Sunday services, prayer requests, funeral support and in-home communion. If you have these or other needs, please feel free to contact me at: email@example.com or 615 472-1502.
On Sunday, February 26th, we experimented with a new orientation of the sanctuary so that we can begin making decisions about more permanent changes. We will leave it this way for the next few weeks and then switch it to an orientation towards the garden window for a few weeks. Your feedback about your impressions of each arrangement is appreciated, both the things you like about each configuration and what you would change. You may either fill out a form that is located in the sanctuary and return it to the wooden box, email your thoughts to Liz Beatty at firstname.lastname@example.org or let her know in person. Thank you for your assistance!
Music in the Grove Sponsorship? As an attempt to offset some of the costs for our upcoming September 4th Music in the Grove Concert, we are trying to develop a group of financial sponsors for the event. In exchange for a monetary contribution, the company would be able to display their logo on marketing and communication pieces in the media and on signs, t-shirts, flyers, etc. If you have a company that would like to participate or if you would like to work with Liz Beatty's team to court sponsorship from businesses in our community, please contact her at email@example.com.
LUKE 14:12 is an organization that provides meals to those who are homeless in downtown Nashville. EBPC serves lunch for Luke 14:12 on the third Tuesday of every month. We meet at 11:30 in the dining room of the Room In The Inn campus (705 Drexel St., off 8th Ave.) and are finished up by 1:00. Transportation from the church is available. We leave at 11:00 a.m. We are in need of a few new friends to add to our volunteer list. If you are interested, we would love to have you join us! Our next opportunity to serve is THIS Tuesday, March 21st. For more information about participating in Luke 14:12 with EBPC or to be added to the volunteer list, contact Ann Ketch at firstname.lastname@example.org or (615) 440-6124. To learn more about Luke 14:12 go to: http://www.luke1412.org/.
Volunteers Needed! Each week we need several members of our EBPC family to help deliver our worship services. Your assistance is needed in the following ways: opener/closer, liturgist, nursery assistant, acolyte (2nd-5th Grade) and Worship & Hospitality Team members to greet people, distribute the bulletins, collect the offering, etc. If you are willing and able to help during March, please go the Sign-up Genius link here and select the date and role(s) for which you would like to volunteer. (We can train you for any position very easily!) If you have any questions, please contact the Worship Planning Team Moderator Liz Beatty.
Planned giving perpetuates the goodness of our individual existence once we are no longer here. Consider including East Brentwood Presbyterian Church in your estate plan and help ensure the long-term operation and mission of EBPC. Contact Brian McGuire if you would like more information on making a planned gift.
Substance Abuse: EBPC will be hosting an important community-wide forum sponsored by the Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services this May about how faith-based organizations can support their members who are struggling with addiction and recovery. If you want to learn more about addiction and resources available in the area, please come to this event on May 2nd from 6-8 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, go to our website.
Flowers & Fellowship Food Sign-up: please consider signing up for flowers, fellowship food, or both in the coming months. Please sign up on our website. If you have any questions, please contact Doug in the church office.
There will be NO Children's Worship or Upwards the next two weeks (March 19 and 26) however, Elizabeth Johnson has specially created a station in the back of the sanctuary for our kids and parents to enjoy during the service if you would like.
April 16: The Easter Egg Hunt before Worship come and share this special time together!
