*Call to Worship Delaney Wepking

Leader: Good morning. This is the day the Lord has made.

Congregation: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Leader: The Lord has also made many things. But the best things in life aren’t things.

Congregation: The best things in life aren’t things.

Leader: Think about what you just said. What does that mean to you? I leave you with this statement. The best things in life are free.

Let us worship God.

Assurance of Forgiveness Jake Henderson

Friends, believe the good news.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Passing of the Peace

As God through Jesus has recognized and forgiven each of us, let us now ourselves recognize and forgive each other by sharing God’s peace with one another. The Peace of Christ is with you!

And also with you.

Time of Reflection

Prayers of the People—Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

We Respond to God’s Love

*Hymn #70 “What Does the Lord Require of You?”

Vs. 1 (2xs), Vs. 3 (2xs)

Witness of Faith & Commitment to Serve of Our Confirmands

Profession of Faith

With the whole church, let us confess our faith.

(The congregation may stand and join the candidates

in affirming the words of the Apostles’ Creed.)

Do you believe in God the Father?

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God?

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit?

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

*Doxology #606

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

praise God, all creatures here below;

praise God above, ye heavenly host;

praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*Please stand if you are able.

To Our Members and Guests: please sign our friendship pad.

For those of you with young children, please check out the shelf of children's Bibles located on the shelves in the sanctuary. There are several different age-appropriate versions available for their use during the service. Please re-shelve them before you leave the building.

Children will be staying in worship with us today. Kiddos, you are welcome to come to the back table and get the personalized in worship grab bag that you made last week if you haven't gotten it already. You can then return to your seat to sit with mom or dad. If you weren't here last week in Upwards or Children's Worship, Ms. Lindsey or Ms. Elizabeth will help you make a grab bag at the back table!

Children ages 3 years thru 5th grade are asked to stay in the sanctuary after worship to briefly practice the three songs they will sing next week at Springapalooza. It's okay if your child isn't familiar with the songs - we have lyric sheets!

Welcome to East Brentwood

To Our Members: East Brentwood gladly welcomes first-time and returning visitors. By introducing yourself and sharing a warm greeting, you express the hospitality of our congregation. Please share a smile and welcoming word to those around you.

To Our Guests: We offer education and fellowship opportunities in the mornings and evenings for children, youth and adults. Please see the Calendar of Events for dates and times.

Evolving from a rich musical history, EBPC strives for diversity of music in worship. On any given Sunday, worshippers may experience our choir sharing traditional or new hymns, handbells ringing, our praise band ensemble performing contemporary Christian songs, or guest vocalists or musicians sharing southern spirituals, Celtic, bluegrass, classical, shape note, jazz, Americana, soul, or other musical genres.

Our Mission

East Brentwood Presbyterian Church is a community church made up of a loving, welcoming family of believers in honest conversation with God. We seek to emulate the ministry of Jesus through compassionate service, with stimulating and relevant exploration of God’s Word, and by sharing that Word and God’s many blessings with our neighbors in Middle Tennessee and around the world.

EBPC will be hosting an important community-wide forum sponsored by the Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services this May about how faith-based organizations can support their members who are struggling with addiction and recovery. If you want to learn more about addiction and resources available in the area, please come to this event on May 2nd from 6-8 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, go to our website or click here.

Springapalooza returns on May 7th! Please bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share (remember we are a peanut and tree nut-free school) and picnic blanket and lawn chairs to enjoy the day.  Please come dressed casually and have your children wear or bring their swimsuits for water fun. And please bring your bikes, trikes, or other wheeled vehicles to be blessed. So that we have plenty of food, please use the following link to let us know that you are coming: https://goo.gl/F0E3MZ.

Volunteers Needed! We are in need of leaders and helpers for our children's ministry for May through the summer/fall. If you are interested in leading or walking alongside our children as they learn the stories of scripture during one of these months or on an ongoing basis, please contact Elizabeth Johnson for more information.

Thank you! To everyone that came last night and brought your friends and family to hear Nate and Matt perform.

Congregational Care: We want to assist with needs that may arise, either anticipated or unexpected, among the people in our church family. Examples of supports include: assistance with transportation and home delivered meals following medical procedures, transportation to church for Sunday services, prayer requests, funeral support and in-home communion. If you have these or other needs, please feel free to contact me at: streckr1@aol.com or 615 472-1502.

Recently, Joanna Roberts, a long-time member of the church, moved away. If you would like to keep in touch with her, her new address is 1504 Renaissance Dr., Conyers, GA 30012. And her email address is gwjrob@aol.com.
