*Call to Worship based on Psalm 23

In the darkest valley,
at the banquet table;
in the hard work of life,
at the moments of ease;
in our day-to-day reality,
at times set aside–
like this time, now–
for worship, for listening, for paying attention;
with every step we take:
goodness and mercy follow us;
our cups overflow.

Let us worship God!

*Hymn #475 “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

Prayer of Confession

Risen Christ,

You came to us so that God would be with us and live

among us.

You came to show us the way and to suffer and die and then be raised from the dead.

You came that we might have life.

Yet we confess to you that we live as if you never walked

among us.

We live afraid of the stranger and doubtful of the kindness of others.

Forgive us for trusting only in that which we can see.

We believe, O God. Help our unbelief!

Time for Silent Reflection

Response “Trisagion” Ortega

Holy God. Holy and mighty.

Holy Immortal One, Have mercy, have mercy on us.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Friends, believe the good news.

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

Passing of the Peace

The peace of Christ is with you!

And also with you.

Gloria Patri #581

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

Time with the Children

Congregation: God go with you.

Children: God be with you here.

Welcome “Child of Blessing, Child of Promise” #486

Child of blessing, child of promise,

baptized with the Spirit’s sign,

with this water God has sealed you

unto love and grace divine.

Child of love, our love’s expression,

love’s creation, loved indeed!

Fresh from God, refresh our spirits;

into joy and laughter lead.

We Listen for God’s Word

Baptism, Identity and Moana”

Time of Reflection

We Respond to the Word

Hymn #184 “Calm to the Waves” 3x

Calm to the waves. Calm to the wind.

Jesus whispers, “Peace, be still.”

Balm to our hearts. Fears at an end.

In stillness, hear his voice.

Prayers of the People—Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as

we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom

and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

This Week in Children's Worship: This fourth Sunday of Easter we will hear the story of the Good Shepherd. Jesus loves us so much that He laid down His life for us, just as a shepherd protects his sheep! Come explore with us as we think of ways we can be like Jesus and care for others.

This Week in UPWARDS: This week we will finish painting our canvases that incorporate one of their favorite Christian symbols as we tell our own faith story and become creative thinkers and doers of Christ! Parents are invited to view our gallery of artwork upstairs at the end of worship. Those who finished their paintings last week will have a fun activity learning about the story of the Good Shepherd!

East Brentwood Presbyterian Church is a community church made up of a loving, welcoming family of believers in honest conversation with God.
